Have ye walked, keeping yourselves blameless before God? (Alma 5:27)

Have I walked, keeping myself blameless before God?

How in the world can I do that???

After pondering my helplessness and hopelessness for a few moments, I was reminded of another set of verses:

And finally, I cannot tell you all the things whereby ye may commit sin; for there are divers ways and means, even so many that I cannot number them.

But this much I can tell you, that if ye do not watch yourselves, and your thoughts, and your words, and your deeds, and observe the commandments of God, and continue in the faith of what ye have heard concerning the coming of our Lord, even unto the end of your lives, ye must perish. And now, O man, remember, and perish not (Mosiah 4:29-30).

The truth is, I can’t do it.

There is no way in this world that I can keep myself blameless before God. It is not possible unless I look to the Savior. Unless I am willing to give my mind and heart over to the Holy Ghost, who will in turn make my mind and heart one with Christ,  and thus automatically one with the Father. Unless I continually repent and seek the grace and power of Jesus Christ and His atonement. Unless I accept His sacrifice for sin (mine and that of others) and let go of the blame and shame.

I can’t keep myself blameless before God. Only Christ can do that.
