When you become one with Jesus Christ, you become the highest and most Christ-like version of yourself that you could ever imagine.

How do we become one with Christ?

By trying to be like Him? No. We’re not talking about “trying to be like.”

By trying to emulate Him? No. To emulate means “to strive to equal or excel.” The  original meaning of the word also included “ambitious or envious rivalry.”

You’ll never hear me use that word, again. Now that I know what it means, I could never, would never use that word to describe my relationship with God.

My goal is not to be like Christ, to be equal to Him, or to surpass Him. There is not spirit of ambition or rivalry with Him.

My goal is to be one with Him. To do this, the only word I need is surrender—to yield to another, to give up, to relinquish.

What do I surrender?

Everything—my time, my possessions, my heart. My whole soul becomes an offering to Him (Omni 1:26). Only in surrender can I become one with Christ.
