When you boil life down to the basics, you only have two choices for dealing with the discomforts of mortality. Either you choose addiction to dull the pain or you choose the peace of God and live (Alma 37:47).

You can choose to become and/or remain an addict to (i.e.: lust after) one or more things that are not God.

Or you can desire, believe, and act in faith upon the testimony of Jesus Christ that if you seek Him, you will find Him (Deuteronomy 4:29, Proverbs 8:17, 2 Nephi 14:7, D&C 88:63).

When you choose the path to the Savior, Jesus Christ, He will make you one with Him, as He is with the Father—if you seek Him with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13).

In other words, you let Him fill your whole vision of what it means to be recovered, what it means to be sane and functional, what it means to be you.

You let Him teach you how to survive in this world of heartache and sorrow

If you let him apply His personal Atonement, for you and to you, you will find that “peace of God, which passeth all understanding,” the peace that makes the sorrow bearable (Philippians 4:7).

The choice is yours: addiction or atonement.
